Wafid (GAMCA) Medical Guide for Bangladesh Workers 2026

Everything Bangladeshi workers need to know about Wafid (GAMCA) medical appointments for GCC visas — authorized centres in Dhaka & Chittagong, fees, documents, and how to book.

Bangladesh is one of the largest sources of labour for GCC countries. If you are a Bangladeshi worker headed to Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, or Bahrain, completing your Wafid (formerly GAMCA) medical examination is a non-negotiable step in the visa process. This guide covers every detail — authorized centres, required documents, fees, and how to book.

Why Is Wafid Medical Mandatory for Bangladeshi Workers?

The Gulf Health Council (GHC) requires all incoming migrant workers from Bangladesh to undergo a standardized pre-employment medical screening through the Wafid system. The medical examination ensures workers are free from communicable diseases (HIV, Hepatitis, TB) and physically fit for employment. Without a Wafid "Fit" certificate, no GCC work visa will be issued.

Authorized Wafid Medical Centres in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has multiple GHC-approved Wafid medical centres, primarily in Dhaka and Chittagong, with additional centres in Sylhet and Cumilla serving workers from those divisions.

  • Dhaka: The highest concentration of approved centres — located in Motijheel, Mirpur, Gulshan, and Uttara. Fastest appointment availability.
  • Chittagong (Chattogram): Key centre for workers from Chittagong Division. Wafid assigns the specific clinic automatically.
  • Sylhet: Serves Sylhet Division — particularly important given Sylhet's strong ties to UAE and UK Gulf remittance workers.
  • Cumilla (Comilla): Serves Cumilla Division workers heading to Gulf countries.

Documents Required for Wafid Medical in Bangladesh

  • Original Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) with minimum 6 months validity
  • National Identity Card (NID)
  • 4 passport-size photographs (white background, recent)
  • Wafid appointment slip (generated after booking)
  • Employer demand letter / visa copy (if received)
  • Bmet clearance copy (if applicable)
  • Payment receipt

Medical Tests Performed

The Wafid medical examination is comprehensive and covers all diseases of concern to GCC immigration authorities:

  • Blood Tests: HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B (HBsAg), Hepatitis C (Anti-HCV), Syphilis (VDRL/RPR), Malaria (for some countries), full blood count
  • Chest X-Ray: Tuberculosis (TB) screening — mandatory for all applicants
  • Urine Analysis: Kidney function, glucose, protein
  • Physical Examination: Height, weight, BMI, blood pressure, general fitness assessment
  • Pregnancy Test: Mandatory for all female applicants

Results are typically uploaded to the Wafid portal within 3–5 working days after your examination.

Wafid Medical Fees in Bangladesh (2026)

The government Wafid medical fee in Bangladesh is approximately BDT 4,000 – BDT 5,500, paid directly at the medical centre. This covers all mandatory tests and the result upload to the Wafid portal.

Our appointment assistance service fee (paid online) is a flat ₹1,499 (Indian Rupees). This covers booking, document guidance, appointment confirmation by email and WhatsApp, and post-booking support.

How Long Is the Wafid Certificate Valid?

The Wafid medical fit certificate is valid for 60 days (2 months) from the date of issue. You must complete visa stamping and travel to your destination GCC country within this period. If you miss the 60-day window, a fresh medical examination is required — there are no extensions.

Step-by-Step Booking Guide

  1. Submit your booking: Fill in our online form with your passport number, GCC destination country, and city of residence in Bangladesh.
  2. Pay service fee: Complete the ₹1,499 payment via Razorpay (cards, UPI, net banking accepted).
  3. Receive confirmation: Your appointment slip with the centre name, date, and time is sent by email and WhatsApp — usually within the same day.
  4. Attend medical: Visit the assigned centre with original documents on your appointment date. Tests take 2–3 hours.
  5. Check result: Log in to wafid.com with your passport number 3–5 days after your appointment.
  6. Proceed to visa: Your employer or recruitment agent will be notified of your Fit status and can proceed with visa stamping.

What Happens If the Result Is "Unfit"?

An Unfit result is issued when the medical examination reveals a disqualifying condition. In Bangladesh, the most common reasons are:

  • Hepatitis B or C (can sometimes be retested after treatment)
  • Active Tuberculosis (disqualifying; requires treatment before reapplication)
  • HIV/AIDS (permanent disqualification for GCC work visas)
  • High blood pressure or uncontrolled diabetes (may be reconsidered after treatment)

If treatable conditions caused the Unfit result, you can reapply for the Wafid examination after a 2–3 month waiting period. Contact us immediately upon receiving an Unfit result — we can guide you on the next steps.

Important Tips for Bangladeshi Workers

  • Book at least 7 days in advance — Dhaka centres are heavily booked during peak Gulf recruitment drives (October–March).
  • Do not consume alcohol for 48 hours before your blood test.
  • Fast for 8 hours before your appointment if you have any blood sugar concerns.
  • Dress modestly — the physical examination includes removing upper garments for the X-ray.
  • The Wafid system is paperless — your digital appointment token is all you need besides your original passport.
  • If your employer has already paid for the BMET registration, bring that receipt to the centre.
